Family & Whanau Support Service

This free service is available to individuals, families and whanau where family violence has occurred.

 Our Family & Whanau Support Service social workers can meet with you in your home or at Te Manawa Family Services to

• hear what involvement or support you would like
• set personal and family goals with you
• discuss your personal and family wellbeing and safety and assess safety and risk,
• provide information, support and guidance
• create safety plans with you for you and your family
• identify support people and networks
• give you information about the programmes
• hear from you about how the programmes are working
• explore any parenting issues or concerns (if applicable)
• let you know about other services available for additional support
• make referrals to other agencies 
• provide guidance with obtaining Protection orders

This service is offered to any one who is in a situation where they feel the need for some support in their lives. Our Family Support workers will meet with you in your home, here at Te Manawa Services or it can be by phone calls – the choice is yours.

The Service is also offered as part of the Te Manawa Programmes to support the partners and/or families of those currently on programmes. It is offered to partners of men on the Men Living Free from Violence programme, who are also given the opportunity to attend the intake and reviews where they can be a part of setting the goals and reviewing progress.

 

The service is a valuable addition to our:

• Men Living Free from Violence Programme
• Women Living Free from Violence Programme
• Youth and Parenting Programme.

We will also work with you and your family alone, or with the support of other individuals or social agencies, depending on your situation and needs.
