Te Manawa Family Services has been in operation in Feilding since 2000 and was established with the encouragement and support of the local Women’s Refuges, Police, Safer Manawatu and the National Network for Stopping Violence Services (NNSVS) as a provider of domestic violence programmes and services in Feilding. This has remained our core focus.
Our choice of name - Te Manawa - the heart, reflects our passion for creating safety, equality and respect for all people.
Our Vision - “Families connected, nurtured and valued growing the mana and wellbeing of our community.”
Our Mission -
Te Manawa Family Services is accredited as an approved provider of Stopping Violence Anger Management programmes with Ministry of Justice and Child, Youth and Family. We are committed to the work of stopping violence and hold the safety and wellbeing of individuals, especially children, as paramount.
At the core of our service are the principles of accountability and responsibility. We believe that these principles are reflected throughout all our agency structures, practices, policies and procedures – from Governance right through to programme and service delivery. These principles underpin and shape the messages that we promote, and the delivery and outcomes sought, through all our Stopping Violence programmes and Services and our accountability to victims of domestic violence.
Te Manawa Family Services Charitable Trust is committed to operating in a manner that recognises the Treaty of Waitangi and recognises te iwi o ngati kauwhata, as nga tangata whenua rangatiratanga, o tenei rohe.
The overall objective of Te Manawa Family Services is “to end violence and to promote non-violence and equality within New Zealand”. This means that our work must promote safety, equality and respect for all people.
